Jamel Fields of Clifton Park, NY graduates from Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT
2010 marks the 216th Commencement Exercise of the Academy
CHESHIRE, CT (06/07/2010)(readMedia)-- Jamel Fields of Clifton Park, NY graduated from Cheshire Academy during this year's 216th Commencement Exercise held on Saturday, June 5, 2010. He is the son of Ms. Michelle Daigle.
An applauding crowd of hundreds of family and friends joined the faculty, staff and lower classmen as the senior class of ninety-one students, from ten states and six countries, gathered under the canopy of a cavernous white tent on Kevin Slaughter Field to celebrate their solemn transition from upper school to university.
The 2010 valedictorian is Fei Ni of Shanghai, China. He will attend Emory University this fall. The salutatorian is Yidi Tao of Hangzhou, China. She will join the freshman class of the University of Wisconsin. Both students are interested in pursuing degrees in business.
This year's commencement speaker was Dr. Joanne K. Glasser, President of Bradley Unviversity. She is the tenth president of Bradley University, and the school's first female president in its 112-year history.
A native of Baltimore, Dr.Glasser served as president of Eastern Kentucky University, a comprehensive regional institution of more than 16,000 students in Richmond, Kentucky, for six years before coming to Bradley. Prior to leading EKU, she served as executive vice president and chief advancement officer at Towson University in Baltimore and as an attorney for Baltimore County government. President Glasser is a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., the University of Maryland School of Law, and has a certificate from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Institute for Higher Education Management in Boston.
