HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/28/2011)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 21, Hampden-Sydney College senior Janko Kajtez received the Weyland Thomas Joyner Physics Award, presented by Dr. Walter C. McDermott III, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy. The Weyland Thomas Joyner Physics Award is given to the physics major who exhibits outstanding scholastic achievement in the field.
A Patrick Henry Scholar, Janko is a member of the honorary societies Phi Beta Kappa (academics) and Chi Beta Phi (science), the International Club, the Society of Physics Students, and is active in intramural sports. A physics and applied mathematics major, Janko graduated from St. Mary's Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD, and is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Nenad Kajtez of Novi Sad, Serbia.
