LAWRENCE, KS (08/25/2011)(readMedia)-- Jason Charney, a music composition senior from Overland Park, will host a new radio program for the University of Kansas School of Music. The program debuted Wednesday, Aug. 24, on KJHK 90.7 FM, KU's student-run radio station.

Charney will host the program at 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights.

This program will spotlight the numerous events taking place at the School of Music and will showcase performances and compositions of music students and faculty.

Charney will highlight recordings of student recitals and ensemble performances. He also plans to interview students, conductors and visiting artists. Colin Mahoney, the School of Music's sound engineer, will assist with production.

"There are so many great performances at KU, and I hope the show can help expose the School of Music's various talents and events to our KJHK's listeners," Charney said.

He is the son of Gil and Marcia Charney of Overland Park and a graduate of Blue Valley North High School.
