Jeanney Wharton of Lake Charles Designs Posters and Ad for Lock Haven University
LOCK HAVEN, PA (02/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Jeanney Wharton of Lake Charles, La., is putting her education and talents to use on behalf of her university.
A junior at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., Jeanney is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with specialization in graphic design. Recently, Jeanney was asked by a professor in the LHU English department to design posters and an ad promoting the university's UpWrite and Pennsylvania Authors Reading Series. The first of the full-color posters features a reading by author Barbara Crooker, an internationally published poet and a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor's "The Writer's Almanac." The second poster features novelist Bathsheba Monk who will be reading from her novel "Nude Walker." This novel, set in a small Pennsylvania town, explores the topics of industry, immigration, and the environment. The ad for the reading series, a collage of the two posters featuring a banner inviting the public to participate, will appear in The Express, the Lock Haven, Pa., newspaper.
Lock Haven University Director of Marketing and Communications Mary White praised the design of the ads, saying, "It is wonderful to have such professionally designed ads to place in the local paper. Jeanney's skills are impressive, and I'm sure she can look forward to a successful career."
