Jeffersonville Resident Lindsay Phillips, Psy.D. Receives National Award for Excellence

PHILADELPHIA, PA (08/27/2012)(readMedia)-- Lindsay Phillips, Psy.D. '08 received the Judy E. Hall Early Career Psychologist award from the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (National Register). The award is named for the National Register's current Executive Officer, Judy E. Hall, Ph.D., and recognizes excellence in a nationally credentialed psychologist with less than ten years of postdoctoral experience.

According to Dr. Hall, "The National Register Board of Directors was impressed with Dr. Phillips' desire to help the vulnerable segment of the population that is acclimating to life after incarceration. The board was delighted with her plans to name her research "Coping with Reentry: Mixed Methods Analysis of Successful Transitions from Prison to Society," that will provide general information and other resources easily accessible to not only psychology professionals but to the people who would benefit most from it."

"I am honored to be one of the 2012 recipients of the Judy E. Hall, Ph.D., Early Career Psychologist Award," said Dr. Phillips. "I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Hall and to everyone at the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. I plan to use the award funds to create a service-learning project for my students that will work toward increasing visibility of psychological and other services to individuals who are reentering society following a prison sentence."

A resident of Jeffersonville, Pa., Dr. Phillips received her Psy.D. in clinical psychology in 2008 from Chestnut Hill College. Her dissertation research focused on the imprisoned and jailed population and reentry into general society. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Coatesville, Pa. She is a member of the psychology faculty at Albright College in the Accelerated degree program, and maintains a private practice in Pennsylvania. Dr. Phillips has been credentialed by the National Register since 2011.

The National Register is the largest credentialing organization for psychologists in the country. The independent, non-profit organization was created in 1974 with the help of the American Psychological Association and the American Board of Professional Psychology. Today, the National Register is the leading source of information on nationally credentialed psychologists in health care.
