Jenifer and Gleaton Tabbed All-Region for Genesee

BATAVIA, NY (03/11/2014)(readMedia)-- Genesee Community College women's basketball guard/forward Dashawna Jenifer (Buffalo, NY) and center/forward Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) were recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region III All-Region team. Jenifer, a sophomore, was named to the All-Region Second Team and Gleaton, a freshman, was named to the All-Region Third Team.

Jenifer, an All-Region Third Team selection last year as a freshman at GCC, averaged double-figures in both scoring and rebounding this year. She scored an average of 11.2 points per game and collected an average of 10.1 rebounds. She was the only member of the team to start in all 27 games this year for the Cougars and scored a career high 25 points against Herkimer County Community College on Nov. 2.

Gleaton was third on the team in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 9.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. She made 22 starts and appeared in all 27 games for Genesee this year, recording a career-high 19 points against Monroe Community College on Jan. 18.

Genesee finished the season with a 5-21 overall record and lost in the opening round of the regional tournament.
