Jenny Wootton Barfknecht Named Student Leader of the Month

KERRVILLE, TX (11/20/2013)(readMedia)-- Jenny Wootton Barfknecht of Ingram has been named Schreiner University Student Leader of the Month for October.
Jenny is a senior BSN (Bachelors in Nursing) student from Ingram, Texas with a bachelor's in Finance from Texas A&M. She has been a work study for Health and Wellness for the last year and a half. She was the Chair of the Ingram ISD School Board and is currently on the board for the American Red Cross, secretary for the Schreiner Walk and Run club last year, and on the Heart of the Hills golf committee. She also works a number of jobs to gain a variety of experience as well as pay for her own way through college along with a heavy workload of the BSN program. Upon graduation, she plans to stay in Kerrville or the surrounding hill country area to be in surgery, ob/gyn or geriatrics.
Lucrecia Flores, Director of Health and Wellness stated that, "Jenny has been wonderful to work with! She takes on tasks as if it is her name is on it. She has been incredibly engaged and responsible in pulling together every single one of the nursing students as well as nursing instructors, to help create a very successful health fair which also allowed the nursing students an opportunity to learn and practice the skills they will need in the workforce. She is respected by her peers as well as her professors." One of her instructors, Lillian Barron stated, "she is knowledgeable, energetic and a great team player. She can be counted on to add great creativity and knowledge to any project she joins."
The Student Leader of the Month, sponsored by Student Services, recognizes a Schreiner University undergraduate student for their excellence in leadership through campus involvement, leadership activities and/or through volunteer and community service programs.
