Jeremy Lachman Receives Award at Hampden-Sydney College Opening Convocation

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/06/2012)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Tuesday, September 4, Jeremy Keith Lachman, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, received the First Honor Samuel S. Jones Phi Beta Kappa Award with a grade point average of 3.936. The Samuel S. Jones Phi Beta Kappa Award recognizes juniors for their intellectual achievement and good citizenship.

An Allan Scholar, Jeremy serves as a Writing Center tutor and was a recipient of the Sophomore Academic Excellence Award at Final Convocation in Spring 2012. A religion major, Jeremy is a graduate of North Carolina School of Science & Math and is the son of Jon & Lisa Lachman of Arapahoe.

A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
