WESTMINSTER, MD (10/25/2013)(readMedia)-- John "JP" Patrick of Bel Air, Md., is a recipient of the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award from McDaniel College. He is a 1980 alumnus of the college.

Presented annually during McDaniel's Homecoming, the Green Terror Sports Hall of Fame award is presented to a graduate and former athlete who has performed outstandingly as an undergraduate athlete and who has contributed to society since leaving the college.

A physical education major, he played soccer and lacrosse at the college. He was a four-year varsity letterman and two-year captain in both sports. He was a member of the 1978 and captain of the 1979 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship lacrosse teams. In 1979, he was selected to the All Middle Atlantic Conference lacrosse first team, and, in 1980, he was named to the 1980 North-South Lacrosse team.

Patrick served in the Army from 1981-1986, where he played soccer in the NSA/Ft. Meade league. During that time, he graduated from Airborne, Ranger, Counter Sniper and Jumpmaster courses. In 1984, at the rank of Captain, he served as Company commander of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. Patrick earned several military decorations and badges, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Excellence in Competition Rifleman's Badge and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

He currently works as chief operating officer at Liberty Petroleum.
