John K. Thorndike Elected to Bowdoin College Board of Trustees
BRUNSWICK, ME (05/23/2011)(readMedia)-- John K. Thorndike, of Brookline, Mass., has been elected to the Bowdoin College Board of Trustees. Thorndike, a member of the Bowdoin College Class of 2002, was one of seven trustees elected for a term of five years, effective July 1, 2011.
Thorndike is Deputy CIO of The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF), a cooperative-style investment organization with a mission of improving the investment returns of endowed charities. TIFF has 756 non-profit members with $8.6 billion in assets.
Thorndike focuses on selecting and monitoring external managers and internally managed investments for the marketable investments program. In 2008, he completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
Thorndike worked as a financial analyst in Bowdoin's investment office during 2003-2004 and has served with the Bowdoin Career Advisory Network.
The other newly elected trustees include Stewart Bainum Jr., Gregory B. Bowes '83, Tasha vanderLinde Irving '82, George A. Khaldun '73, Kathleen K. Phillips '99 and Karen Natalie Walker '84.
