Johnston Resident Takes First in State Fair Candy Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Rosemary Ridgway of Johnston placed first in the Rip's Licorice Candy Creations contest judged Saturday at the 2011 Iowa State Fair.

Brenda Becker of Pella took second place.

Entries were required to use licorice candy in their creation and were judged on creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Blue Bunny.
