Jordan McRae of Beltsville Awarded Rhoda K. Roberts Memorial Scholarship in the Vocal Arts
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (01/06/2014)(readMedia)-- Jordan McRae, a Beltsville, Md., native and sophomore at St. Mary's College of Maryland, was recently awarded the Rhoda K. Roberts Memorial Scholarship in the Vocal Arts. Established in 2006 by Karen J. Horton and John J. Roberts, the scholarship benefits students who demonstrate promise in the vocal arts.
At St. Mary's College of Maryland, McRae is studying music performance and English. He hopes to attend graduate school for his masters in music performance.
Outside of the classroom, McRae is a resident assistant and is executive publicist of the Black Student Union. He is a Paul H. Nitze Scholar and a DeSousa-Brent Scholar and mentor. His other interests include listening to music, reading, writing poetry and cooking.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
