José Alonso and Caitlin Hof Honored at Buena Vista University

STORM LAKE, IA (06/17/2013)(readMedia)-- Both José Alonso and Caitlin Hof of Yankton, S.D., were recently honored at Buena Vista University's (BVU) student recognition event. Alonso is a recent graduate who majored in music production and technology, and Hof is a senior majoring in biology, chemistry, and psychology.
Alonso received the Music Production Senior of the Year Award from BVU's School of Communication & Arts.
Hof was inducted into Alpha Chi, a national honor society recognizing scholarship in all disciplines, promoting academic achievement and encouraging its members to continue their lives as scholars. Membership is restricted to ten percent of the senior class having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and five percent of the junior class having a cumulative grade point average of 3.65 or higher.
Hof was also named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, based on outstanding scholastic, campus and community activities.
Hof was accepted as a member of the Undergraduate Rural Medicine Education & Development Program (URMED). The innovative program places students at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and provides experiential learning opportunities throughout the academic year for BVU students pursuing careers in medicine and other health care professions.
Finally, Hof is the recipient of the William Cumberland Student Development Award which enhances opportunities for special academically talented students in areas of internships, off campus and foreign semesters, foreign trips and internships. The award is to be used for expenses related to interim travel or research, or a semester off campus.
