Julia Nicole Chaplin of Vestal Recognized for Academic Achievement

SCRANTON, PA (06/13/2013)(readMedia)-- Julia Nicole Chaplin of Vestal, a 2013 summa cum laude graduate of The University of Scranton, received the Excellence in Human Resource Studies Award from the University at Commencement. Chaplin was recognized for academic excellence and outstanding service alongside 67 other graduates who earned some of the nation's most prestigious honors including Goldwater, Truman and Fulbright scholarships.

Chaplin majored in human resource studies with minors in business and philosophy at the Jesuit university. She was a member of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta (the national honor society for first-year students) and Omega Beta Sigma (the women's business honor society). Chaplin was president of the university's chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu (the honor society for Jesuit universities and colleges) and the Residence Hall Association. She was also a member of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Chaplin was an undergraduate research presenter for the Annual Celebration of Student Scholars and has been a student assistant in the Health Administration and Human Resource Studies Department.

Chaplin plans to move to Glendale, Calif., to be a human resources development professional with Nestle S.A.

Chaplin is a graduate of Vestal Senior High School.
