LA MIRADA, CA (05/22/2014)(readMedia)-- Karly Dantuma is keeping the family tradition alive by committing to be a student-athlete at Biola. Dantuma is currently a junior opposite at Valley Christian High School, and she knows she wants to join Biola Volleyball in fall 2015.
Dantuma would join her sister, Taylor, who is a tennis player for the Eagles and she has a mom who is a part of Biola's outstanding faculty. It seems to be destiny that she would land on the court in Chase Gymnasium.
"I have always known about Biola, because my mom works here, so growing up I always knew I wanted to go here," said Dantuma. "I looked into some other places, but as I did more research on Biola I just knew it was the right place for me. When I practiced with the tam and met the coach it became really clear that this is where God wants me to be."
Dantuma will enter her senior season at Valley Christian this fall, and she will be the captain of the Crusaders' girl's volleyball team. She is an opposite who has already won all-league second team honors in her first two seasons on varsity.
She led the team to a 26-12 overall record in her first two varsity seasons.
Outside of volleyball, Dantuma is involved in the Crusaders' student council and Zuni missions team. She is a beast with the books as she is part of the illustrious National Honors Society.
"I love Karly. She had good size and she is left-handed, what's not to love?" said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "She has tons of upside and good connections with Biola, so we are very excited to have her."
