ASHLAND, OH (10/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Johnstown resident Kaitlin Aurandt, who has a major in English along with a double minor in political science and creative writing, has fit in well with the busy student lifestyle at Ashland University.

Aurandt, a junior at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, is a 2010 graduate of Central Cambria High School.

Aurandt is active in many student organizations on campus as well as being actively involved with her sorority. She is an Ashland University Ashbrook Scholar, a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, a member of Relay for Life, and works at Safety Services.

Aurandt said she is very pleased with her decision to go out of state for her college education. She enjoys being a student at Ashland University because it allows her to branch out and not rely on her family since she is an out-of-state student.

When asked if Ashland University is considered her second home, Aurandt replied, "Yes Ashland feels like home because of all the friends I have here that feel like family, and family for me is home," she added. Aurandt explains that she did not experience any culture shock coming to Ashland, Ohio, because it is similar to the small town she is from in Pennsylvania.

Academically Aurandt is a very strong student and she is on schedule to graduate a semester earlier than her original graduation date.

"Academics are stressful, obviously! As of now I'm planning on graduating in December of 2013, which means I have to defend my Ashbrook thesis a semester early so I need to focus on planning, drafting, and writing that along with fitting in all my credits in order to graduate early," says Aurandt.

Aurandt is now putting together her plans for the future.

"After graduation, I want to go to law school. In February I'll be taking an LSAT (law school admission test) course to prep me for the test in June, and depending on the results of that, I'll choose a law school from there. Hopefully, somewhere in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and last resort, Ohio," says Aurandt.
