Kaitlin Emmert of Ferdinand Named UE Presser Scholar

EVANSVILLE, IN (04/23/2013)(readMedia)-- The University of Evansville is proud to announce that Kaitlin Emmert of Ferdinand, Indiana, has been named this year's Presser Undergraduate Scholar by the Department of Music.
The scholarship award is given annually to a rising senior music major at UE, selected by the music faculty on the basis of excellence and merit.
Emmert, a graduate of Forest Park High School, is majoring in music therapy with a minor in psychology and a certificate in Suzuki pedagogy. She plays violin in the University Symphony Orchestra and String Ensemble. Emmert has helped with several music therapy events and presentations and has held offices in student organizations such as Sigma Alpha Iota, Circle K International, Best Buddies, and the Newman Club. She was one of the winners of the University of Evansville's 2013 Vukovich Concerto Competition and was selected for induction into the Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society.
After graduation, Emmert plans to pursue a music therapy internship and return to her hometown area to open a private practice.
