Kate Ziegler Wins Joan M. Herbers Award at UVM
Kate J. Ziegler received the Joan M. Herbers Award at the University of Vermont this semester. The award is presented annually to a student who has demonstrated excellence in biological research.
The award is named for Joan Herbers who arrived at UVM in 1979 as the first tenure-track female professor in the history of the biology department and quickly rose to full professor, the highest rank for a faculty member. Dr. Herbers has been for many years one of the world's most important researchers in animal behavior, especially the social behavior of ants.
