Katelyn Brown of Stroudsburg, Pa., earns multiple awards at Saint Joseph's College

STANDISH, ME (05/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Katelyn Brown of Stroudsburg, Pa., earned the McAuley Service Leadership Award at Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine, given to a student whose commitment and dedication to the Mercy mission and traditions of Saint Joseph's is reflected through acts of community service and leadership. Brown also received the Theology Award, given for excellence in the field of theology and will graduate with distinction in May.

Brown also received the Maine Campus Compact 2012 Heart and Soul Award, given to students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership both on campus and within their community. Brown started the Saint Joseph's College Social Justice Club. As it's president, she planned innovative fundraisers and events that have become tradition on the campus. The club has addressed issues ranging from an anti-malaria campaign to hunger and homelessness education to a sexual violence awareness campaign. She also worked with community partners, such as Catholic Charities and Invisible Children.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine offers traditional, 4-year bachelor's degrees to students at its southern Maine campus on Sebago Lake and online undergraduate and graduate programs to working adults throughout the country. www.sjcme.edu
