WILKES-BARRE, PA (04/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Katherine Sceia, of Hammonton, N.J., spent her spring break volunteering in the Dominican Republic as part of the Wilkes University Alternative Spring Break Program. Sceia is a junior at Wilkes, and she is majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Charles and Tania Sceia.

Over 30 students from Wilkes University participated in this year's Alternative Spring Break. Groups of students traveled to different locations, such as the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Missouri, and Kentucky to volunteer in the community. The program offers a fun, educational, and diverse experience for students, as well as benefits the local communities where students travel to.
