Kathleen E. Smart of Hatboro Honored for Academic Excellence

SCRANTON, PA (06/14/2013)(readMedia)-- Kathleen E. Smart of Hatboro, a 2013 summa cum laude graduate of The University of Scranton, received the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Award at Commencement. Smart was recognized for academic excellence and outstanding service alongside 67 other graduates who earned some of the nation's most prestigious honors including Goldwater, Truman and Fulbright scholarships.

Smart majored in accounting at the Jesuit university. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (the national honor society for first-year students), Beta Gamma Sigma (the international honor society for business), Omega Beta Sigma (the women's business honor society) and Omnicron Delta Epsilon (the international honor society for economics). She was a member of the Business Leadership Honors Program. She has been captain of the University's women's lacrosse team for the last two years.

Smart is a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, She was a recipient of The University of Scranton's four-year, full-tuition Presidential Scholarship.
