Katie MacBride Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

CANTON, MO (12/16/2011)(readMedia)-- The Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team had one player recognized as 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics this week.

Named to the list was senior forward Katie MacBride, a natural science major from River Falls, Wis. (River Falls HS / Northern Iowa University). MacBride is minoring in physical science.

MacBride totaled 16 points this season, netting five goals and garnering six assists. She led the Lady Wildcats with 53 shots, including 27 shots on goal, and had one game-winning goal.

MacBride tied a school record with four assists versus Knox (Ill.) College on Sept. 10, and notched a hat trick with three goals in a 4-0 victory over Greenville (Ill.) College on Sept. 20. She was the only member of the soccer team to be honored by the HAAC, garnering third-team honors.

Four hundred eighty-five players were recipients of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honor. Student-athletes must have a junior or senior academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50. Student-athletes who transferred must have been in attendance at an institution for one full year to be eligible.
