STAUNTON, VA (04/26/2010)(readMedia)-- Kids Matter Day 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Gym in Gypsy Hill Park. Kids Matter Day is a FREE FAMILY EVENT designed to inform parents and guardians about ways to keep kids safe from abuse and other dangers while their children enjoy age-appropriate activities. Activities focus on child safety awareness, child abuse and neglect prevention, healthy children, strong families and play – the work of childhood.There will be an opportunity to visit health/safety stations to obtain valuable information. In addition we are going to have more than 50 vendors, Papa John's Pizza with proceeds benefiting KMD, Lots of free gifts like books, puppets, Frisbees, etc. Some of the more popular activites include the Astro Jump, the Orbortron, the Fire House and large (in relation to children) mascots.

Staunton Parks and Recreation is proud to be a part of Kids Matter Day and is one of the event's founding mothers. Many agencies will gather with Staunton City Schools and Staunton Parks and Recreation this day to promote public awareness of child health and safety issues through this community celebration called Kids Matter Day.
