Kids' Snacks Win at State Fair
DES MOINES, IA (09/12/2024) (readMedia)-- Young cooks from around the state entered their best healthy snacks in the Snack Time for Kids with Live Healthy Iowa competition judged Friday, August 16, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.
Zoe Praska of Urbandale won first place and a $75 gift card.
Jansen Petersen of Knoxville earned second place and a $50 gift card.
Contestants were tasked with making a healthy and satisfying snack that is appealing to kids and mom approved.
Entries were judged on nutrition, taste and appearance
The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
