Kilburn and Long of Summertown, Moore County's Raby Sign with Trevecca
NASHVILLE, TN (11/26/2012)(readMedia)-- Trevecca women's basketball coach Gary Van Atta announced the additions of three players to his program during the early signing period.
Megan Kilburn and Morgan Long, teammates from Summertown High School, and Sarah Raby, a 6-foot forward from Moore County High School in Lynchburg, have committed to play for the Trojans.
Kilburn, a 5-10 forward, averaged 12.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game last season while shooting 68% from the field. She was an All-District 12A selection the last two seasons and an All-State and All-State Tournament selection as well.
"Meg will be a huge asset to our team. Her versatility and athleticism allows her to play more than one position for us. She can take you off the dribble, post you or pull up for the three-point shot," Van Atta said.
Kilburn has also been active off the court logging over 100 hours of community service for projects with her church and county,
Long, a 5-8 guard, scored 10.3 points and grabbed 5.5 rebounds per game last season and hit 42% from three-point range. She was also selected to the 12A All District team the last two seasons.
"Morgan is a prototypical shooting guard. She can get to the basket and finish or she can knock down the long range three. She is an excellent athlete who excelled in three sports in high school. Academically, she will be valedictorian of her class posting a 4.0 GPA," Van Atta said.
Rounding out the early signings is Raby. As a junior, she scored her 1000th point and grabbed her 500th rebound. She averaged 14 points, 5.3 rebounds and two steals per game last season.
Raby was also a part of two All-Tournament teams: the Southern Classic Beach Blowout and Sundrop Classic in 2011-12.
As a student, she is the Honor Club President, a member of the student counsel, FFA (Future Farmers of America) and the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).
"Sarah was highly recruited and turned down several DI offers to become the fifth Moore County Raiderette that has played for me in college and the third at Trevecca," Van Atta said.
Van Atta added, "She can handle the ball, shoot the three and attack the basket. We look forward to her contributions next season."
"This class is an unusual class because of the versatility it possesses. All three girls are multi-sport athletes. They can play multiple positions on the court. They can all pass, dribble and shoot. They are all extremely athletic and more importantly they are great kids and have been raised in great homes. They are selfless, tireless workers who should excel at Trevecca. Adding these three to our returning players for next season and the TNU women's basketball future continues to look very bright," Van Atta concluded about this year's class.
