Kingfield Native Emily Gordon Takes First Place at Mount Ida College Film Festival

NEWTON, MA (03/08/2010)(readMedia)-- Emily Gordon, a native of Kingfield, Maine and graduate of Mount Abram Regional High School, won first place at the Third Annual Mount Ida College Film Festival. The festival was held March 4-6 at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA.
Gordon, a senior funeral service major at Mount Ida College, was awarded $500. Her film will also be shown at the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF), which takes place March 25-28 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
The 15-minute film, titled "A Weekend in Kingfield," follows Gordon as she travels back to her hometown for the weekend. Gordon, who produced, directed and wrote the film, gives viewers a chance to feel what it's like to live and work in a small town in Maine.
The Mount Ida College Film Festival, known as the Best of the Fest, features a collection of award-winning independent films from the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) as well as a number of videos produced by students from the College. Students compete for over $800 in cash prizes and the opportunity to debut their film at the GSFF.
