Kira Schwartz, Bethesda Native, Wins Scholarship for German Summer Study

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (05/14/2013)(readMedia)-- Kira R. Schwartz, a junior at St. Mary's College of Maryland who lives in Bethesda, Md., will study German in Berlin this summer as the winner of the College Student Scholarship for Summer Study of German. The Scholarship was awarded by the Board of the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) Maryland/DC-Metro Chapter. Schwartz will participate in the Middlebury College Summer School Program in Berlin, where she will study German over the summer.
Schwartz lived in Germany for a year during high school through a Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship. She chose the Middlebury program "because of its deep commitment to learning German." Participants sign an agreement to speak only German for the duration of the program, even in their free time. Schwartz is majoring in German and political science at St. Mary's College.
