"Kiss Me Kate" Kicks Off Wig and Buckle's New Season at Lebanon Valley College

ANNVILLE, PA (10/07/2016)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company will begin its 81st season with a production of Cole Porter's 1948 musical "Kiss Me Kate." Opening night will be Friday, Oct. 28 under the direction of Tyler Miller '19.

You are sure to enjoy your night at the theater, as this comedic musical unfolds before your eyes. Set in the 1940s, "Kiss Me Kate" is a show within a show about a cast putting on a new musical version of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." However, their opening night begins with a few obstacles-involving love triangles, gangsters, and more-that are getting in the way of finishing the show. With the lead actress threatening to leave before the second act, it's hard to tell if this new musical will make it through opening night. Will the show go on? You'll have to come see for yourself!

"I have enjoyed so many aspects of the show, most notably getting to work with such a wonderful cast and crew and watch as we all work together to create something wonderful," said Miller. "I particularly wanted to direct this musical because I was excited to work on such a fun, hilarious show."

"Kiss Me Kate" stars Sean Reynolds '17, Rachel Hogan '17, Jacob Kanavins '18, Victoria Hackman '20, Alec Hamilton '20, Austin Peterman '18, Jennifer Summy '19, Madison Lenhart '19, Connor Feeney '17, Indiana Bolger '17, Jeremiah Kreider '18, Amelia Catanzaro '17, Miranda Evitts '17, Nathan Kachel '17, Christian Johnson '18, and Rose Reid '20.

The production crew includes Michael Halcovage '17 (pit director), Emily Nieman '17 (vocal director), Grace Bailey '17 (stage manager), and Timothy Umstead '18 (assistant stage manager). Dr. Kevin Pry '76, assistant professor of English and dramaturge, is the company's advisor.

Performances are scheduled for Oct. 28–29 and Nov. 4–5 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. All shows are performed in Leedy Theater in the Allan W. Mund College Center.
