'Know Your Title IX' Carnival educates on sexual assault Wednesday at Elizabethtown College

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (01/24/2015)(readMedia)-- Educating students on the issues surrounding sexual assault, dating violence and stalking could be dry stuff, but Elizabethtown College is taking a look at these serious issues and drawing attention to their importance in a fun, interactive way.

The College's student wellness advocacy group developed interactive booths and games to inform students about Title IX during 'Know Your IX' Carnival taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the College's BSC Concourse.

Students who attend the carnival and visit at least four booths are eligible for a free T-shirt! The booths include information about confidential resources on campus, stalking, sexual assault statistics and consent. There also is an opportunity for participants to sign the "It's On Us" pledge (www.itsonus.org).

In addition to informational booths, there will be face painting, a duck pond and a kissing booth – stressing that "A KISS does not equal CONSENT".

The event is sponsored by the Office of Student Wellness. Contact: Amanda Cheetham, Health Educator, at 717-361-1123 or cheethama@etown.edu.
