AMERICUS, GA (11/11/2011)(readMedia)-- Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) student Kristy Handsom was recently recognized for winning a full tuition scholarship from the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Georgia (WSWG) Foundation. A native of Ellenwood, Ga., Handsom is a nursing major.

The WSWG Foundation grants scholarships to non-research institutions within the University System of Georgia each year on a rotating basis. Having awarded its first scholarship in 1965, the WSWG Foundation has funded more than 1,000 scholarships totaling over $1 million.

Founded in 1906, Georgia Southwestern is a comprehensive, four-year member of the University System of Georgia. GSW offers over 40 bachelor's degrees; master's degrees in business, education, computer science, English and awaiting approval of an online MSN in nursing; and a specialist degree in education.
