LVC Ranked #2 by U.S. News & World Report Among “Great Schools, Great Price”

ANNVILLE, PA (09/13/2016)(readMedia)-- In large part due to the growing number of graduates from Lebanon Valley College's master's degree programs, the College was recently re-classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Master's University-Small Programs. LVC's re-classification was reflected in the U.S. News & World Report's 2017 edition of "America's Best Colleges," where the Hershey-area College ranked second, for the third consecutive year, on the list of Great Schools, Great Price in its category (Regional Universities, North).

U.S. News & World Report also continued to place Lebanon Valley College highly in several other areas important to prospective students and their families. LVC was in the top 10% nationally among all 653 Regional Universities in five categories: Average First-Year Retention Rate (top 10%), Actual Graduation Rate (top 5%), Lowest Student-Faculty Ratio (top 10%), Percentage of Freshmen in Top 25% of High School Class (top 3%), and Average Alumni Giving Rate (top 9%).

U.S. News & World Report publishes the best-known ratings of the nation's colleges and universities. The "Great Schools, Great Price" ranking is based on a calculation that takes into account a school's academic quality, based on its U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2015–2016 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. Further, the list of Regional Universities on the U.S. News lists are noted as those that provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master's programs.

Our 2016 graduates are enrolled in graduate programs ranging from neuroscience and art to medicine and law, and one was named a Fulbright Scholar to Austria. These alumni attend a variety of notable graduate schools across the country and in Austria, Canada, and England. Prestigious schools our alumni attend include Sotheby's Institute of Art, Lehigh University, University of Delaware, University of Minnesota, West Virginia Medical School, Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, Virginia Tech University, Kingston University (England), University of Graz (Austria), McGill University (Canada), New York Film Academy (California), George Washington University, Villanova University School of Law, and Georgia Tech.

"The Carnegie re-classification was important to Lebanon Valley College considering our strong recent growth in academic programs, including the number of master's degrees awarded, which will continue to grow through our new master's programs in athletic training and speech-language pathology, as well as other health-care related programs in the planning stages," said Marty Parkes, executive director of marketing and communications.

Approximately 99 percent of new, fall 2016 LVC enrollees received grant or scholarship aid from the College. Generous academic scholarships are awarded to students whose high school records demonstrate a commitment to achievement.

Further, LVC's Global Network is more than 16,000 strong and includes alumni in more than 30 countries and all 50 states.
