LVC's Dec. 2 Christmas at the Valley concert will benefit Operation Santa Claus.

ANNVILLE, PA (11/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College will broadcast its 7 p.m. Dec. 2 performance of Christmas at the Valley live via LVCtv. The online, free broadcast will be hosted at www.lvc.edu/lvctv for those who are unable to attend the popular concert in person.

The 58th Annual Christmas at the Valley holiday program titled "A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols" is held in Lebanon Valley College's Miller Chapel at 3 and 7 p.m. Concert preludes will begin at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m., and a post-concert holiday reception will be held in Mund College Center after both performances.

Admission is free and open to the public, and a free will offering will benefit Operation Santa Claus in Lebanon County. More than $43,240 has been raised over the past 20 years in support of Operation Santa Claus, which provides food, clothing, and toys for needy Lebanon County families during the holidays.

An instrumental prelude will feature the College's handbell choir and student organists, performing familiar pieces such as "I Saw Three Ships," "Good King Wenceslas," "Deck the Hall," "Coventry Carol," "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Carol of the Bells," and many others. Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman, professor of music, will direct the handbell choir.

A combined College, Chamber, and Concert choir will perform two pieces from Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols, "Wolcum Yole" and "Deo Gracias."

The College Choir, conducted by Dr. Michael Wojdylak, adjunct assistant professor of music, will perform "And The Glory" from Handel's Messiah, as well as "Hodie Christus Natus Est" by Francis Pulenc, "Dostonio Yest" by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, and "O Nata Lux" by Morten Lauridson.

The Chamber Choir, conducted by Randall J. Marks. adjunct instructor of music, will perform "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridson, "Psallite," by Michael Praetorius, and "We Three Kings" by Darmon Maeder.

The Concert Choir, also under Marks's direction, will present "I Can Tell The World" by Moses Hogan, "O Little Town of Bethlehem" My Matthew Culloton, "Lux Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre, and "This Little Babe" by Benjamin Britten. The Concert Choir will also perform Britten's "Jubilate Deo," conducted by student Dwight Weaver '13.

Students, faculty, staff, and administrators-including President Lewis E. Thayne-will read "The Nine Lessons," with introductory remarks made by Rev. Paul M. Fullmer, College chaplain. Following the benediction, alumni from the choirs will be invited to join in the singing of the traditional "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
