Lakeview Professor Earns CNE Distinction

DANVILLE , IL (05/23/2019) (readMedia)-- Ariel Wright of Danville, IL, has earned the designation Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) after meeting strict eligibility criteria and successfully completing a rigorous certification examination developed and administered by the National League for Nursing (NLN).

"For academic nurse educators, it establishes nursing education as a specialty area of practice and creates a means for faculty to demonstrate their experience in this role. It communicates to students, peers, and the academic and healthcare communities that the highest standards of excellence are being met. By becoming credentialed as a certified nurse educator, you serve as a leader and role mode. Certification is a mark of distinction for nursing faculty," according to the NLN website.

Wright said is proud to have earned this certification and is grateful for how it will benefit students at her alma mater (she is a 2009 graduate of Lakeview College of Nursing). She said, "I am always striving to provide my students with the best possible learning experience. I've gained a lot through this process and am excited to pass that knowledge on to my students."

Currently an assistant professor at Lakeview, Wright serves as a course coordinator on the College's Danville Campus. She has been teaching at the College since 2013 and has experience in medical surgical nursing, evidence-based practice, community health nursing, and professional seminar/capstone courses. She has also served as faculty chair, curriculum committee chair, and a member of the College Assessment Team. Additionally, she has provided tutoring for students at all nursing levels.

Wright holds a master's degree in nursing administration from Chamberlain College of Nursing and a master's degree in higher education from Capella University. Prior to employment at Lakeview, Wright worked as a registered nurse at the VA Illiana Healthcare System and at Presence Health, both in Danville, IL.
