MANKATO, MN (01/07/2009)(readMedia)-- Lance Peterson, soybean producer from Underwood, Minn. and American Soybean Association director, was presented the MSGA Director of the Year Award by President Larry Muff at the association's Annual Meeting today.
"We have an extraordinary board of directors and every year it's difficult to choose just one to receive the award," Muff says. "But this year I think everyone will agree that Lance deserves the honor. His leadership at the 2008 Commodity Classic delegates' session demonstrated his deep commitment not only to Minnesota soybean farmers, but also soybean farmers nationwide."
Peterson, a past president of MSGA, began his first term on the ASA board in December. He has been an instrumental member of the MSR&PC International marketing committee and the Midwest Shippers Association, working specifically on improving grain transportation.
Peterson, with the help of his wife Michele and their four children, grows corn and soybeans on his farm in Ottertail County.
The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is a non-profit, farmer-controlled membership organization established in 1962. Its goal is to assure profitable soybean farming by monitoring government policies and supporting research and market development activities.
