Lansing's Ryan Mizgate named All-American for third time in 2013

AURORA, IL (01/02/2014)(readMedia)-- Aurora, Ill, January 2, 2014 (www.aurora.edu) - Aurora University senior tight end Ryan Mizgate (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South H.S.) was named a 2013 Division III All-American for the third time, this time as a Second-Team Tight End by the Associated Press (AP) on the Little All-American Team.

Mizgate has had a tremendous post season having been honored by three organizations as an All-American. In addition to his latest honor from the AP, he was named an AFCA All-American, a 2013 Second-Team All-American by Beyond Sports Network, a d3football.com Third-Team All-Region Tight End, and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) First-Team All-Conference. In his final season with the Spartans, Mizgate set an AU single-season record with 50 catches for 817 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Spartans finished the 2013 season with a 3-7 overall record and 2-4 in the NACC. AU averaged 444.1 yards per game of total offense, including 213.2 yards on the ground and 230.9 yards through the air, and scored 37.4 points per game. The defensive unit allowed 35.7 points per game and 430.2 yards of total offense, including 163.4 yards on the ground and 266.8 yards through the air.
