Las Vegas Golfer Commits to Biola University
Sarah Paravia of Faith Lutheran High School commits to play in Southern California.
LA MIRADA, CA (05/05/2014)(readMedia)-- Biola Women's Golf adds an all-around successful student-athlete who is destined for big things at Biola when she enters as a music and international business major in fall of 2014.
Sarah Paravia is an award-winning golfer with two high school state championships under her belt who does a little singing, acting and art on the side. As a four-year varsity athlete and co-captain she led her Faith Lutheran High School teammates to the Nevada State Championship (1-A) in 2012 and 2013.
"I chose Biola because right away I knew it was the place for me," said Paravia. "I love how Biola is a faith-based university. That was a huge factor when choosing a college."
Paravia stood out among her peers at Faith Lutheran, as she was a recipient of the school's highest athletic honor, the Crusader Award, and she was also a two-time all-league and two-time all-region athlete.
She enters with a scoring average of 79, which is nearly five strokes lower than the Eagles' 2013-14 scoring average leader. She's had plenty of time to work on that scoring average, as she's been golfing since she was eight years old.
"When visiting Biola I played golf with the team and birdied the first two holes, everything just fell into place," said Paravia. "I was also accepted into the music program, and I am so happy that the music and athletic departments are willing to work together for me to do all that I want in college."
Her busy schedule begins with classes, performances and tournaments in early fall.
