CANTON, NY (03/17/2014)(readMedia)-- A pair of spectacular pitching performances from Zach Lawrence (West Palm Beach, FL) and Bryce MacDonald-Wilson (Gastein Passage, Novia Scotia), both of the baseball team, earn this week's Roo of the Week honors.

Lawrence had a tremendous week going 2-0 on the mound pitching 15 innings without giving up an earned run. He finished the week with a perfect 0.00 earned-run average striking out 10 batters. In his first game of the week the freshman threw a complete game shutout throwing eight innings of scoreless ball in a 1-0 SUNY Canton win over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He followed that up with a seven innings of five-hit ball against SUNY Oneonta where the only run surrendered was unearned in a 12-1 victory.

MacDonald-Wilson had a remarkable week for the SUNY Canton baseball team as he pitched an eight-inning complete game no-hitter on Thursday against the College of Mount St. Joseph. The senior struck out 10 batters and the only runners he allowed to reach were either on walks or hit batsmen. He retired nearly a third of the batters he faced on strike outs and induced eight ground outs and six fly outs. The Roos won the game on the 10-run rule defeating the Lions 10-0 in eight innings.

The baseball team is back in action Friday and Saturday with three games against Penn State Abington on the road. Play begins Friday at 3 p.m. before a double header Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our Twitter account.
