ST. LOUIS, MO (03/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Missouri Baptist University senior guard LeAndre' Johnson was named an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention on Wednesday after leading the Spartans to their second-consecutive conference semifinal appearance.
Johnson finished the season ranked 18th in the NAIA in free throw percentage and consistently climbed up the MBU career scoring leaderboard. Johnson hit the 1,000-point milestone on Jan. 17, 2013 against the Columbia College Cougars and continued to post big numbers after that point. He finished his collegiate career with 1,250 points, which elevated him to 10th on the all-time list.
This season, Johnson had his second-most productive year of his career. He finished with 448 points on the season in 29 games played. In his sophomore year, he posted 462 points in 30 games. Over the course of his career, he averaged just over 48 percent from the field and 81.9 percent from the free throw line.
The honor ends the career of one of the best players to don the Spartan uniform. This is the second time in his four-years that Johnson has been named an NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. Johnson is also a two-time All-Conference selection.
