DANVILLE, KY (04/22/2013)(readMedia)-- Lea Stromire Johnson of Charlotte was chosen as the newest member of Centre College's Board of Trustees at the recent spring board meeting on April 11-12. Johnson was elected as a member of the Class of 2014, and her term as a board member is effective immediately.

Johnson is an attorney with Moore & Van Allen, one of the largest law firms in the Southeast, whose clients include numerous businesses, including ten of the 15 Fortune 500 Companies with headquarters in North Carolina. At MVA, Johnson's primary area is banking. Johnson has been included on the North Carolina Super Lawyers list from 2010 to 2012.

Johnson is active with such organizations as the Girl Scouts of America, the Women's Impact Fund, the Junior League of Charlotte, the Symphony Guild of Charlotte and Myers Park United Methodist Church.

Johnson graduated from Centre with degrees in English and government, and went on to earn a juris doctor from Vanderbilt University. Johnson has served Centre College in many volunteer roles, including being a member of the President's Advisory Council and working with Centre Regional Club Leadership, as well as serving on reunion committees.

Johnson lives in Charlotte with her husband, Stuart, and two children, Alice and Adam.

Centre College, founded in 1819, is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Danville, Ky. Centre hosted its second Vice Presidential Debate on 10.11.12, and remains the smallest college in the smallest town ever to host a general election debate.
