Lebanon Student at Washington and Lee Participates in Washington Term

LEXINGTON, VA (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Rachel Pityk, a sophomore at Washington and Lee University from Lebanon, Pa., is participating in the University's Washington Term this month.

Pityk, a graduate of Cedar Crest High School and a politics and mathematics double major, is interning with Virginia Congressman Bob Goodlatte.

W&L's four-week Washington Term Program is divided into three components: the academic course, the internship and the lecture series. Students work four full days a week in their internship offices, and on Friday attend class and lectures. Wednesday evenings are also set aside for class activities.

Students are selected to participate in the Washington Term Program on a competitive basis. The program aims to enhance students' understanding of national politics and governance. Combining the practical experience of a political internship with academic study, it affords deeper insight into the processes and problems of government at the national level.
