ANNVILLE, PA (09/30/2015)(readMedia)-- Russia's storied history meets sacred lore in Windows to Heaven: Treasures from the Museum of Russian Icons, a travelling collection of images with great significance to Christianity that will be on display at Lebanon Valley College's Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery from October 30-December 13. Many of the displayed works chronicle the life of Jesus, with others depicting lives of saints and events from the Old Testament. These works, dating to 1590, are important to Russian history, showing the religious beliefs from Russia's conversion to orthodox Christianity.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception for Windows to Heaven on Friday, Oct. 30, from 5–7 p.m. Lebanon Valley College music students will perform Russian liturgical choral music beginning at 5:15 p.m. that evening.

Iconographer-in-Residence

Contemporary iconographer Dorothy Thayne will be in residence writing icons in the Gallery November 2–6, during Gallery hours, or by appointment.
