Lebanon Valley College Chamber Orchestra Announces Fall Recital on Dec. 2

ANNVILLE, PA (11/24/2015)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Chamber Orchestra will perform its fall recital Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Lutz Hall of Blair Music Center. Four ensembles-the Woodwind Quintet, the Brass Quintet, and two string trios-also feature in the concert. The performance is free and open to the public.

Dr. Johannes Dietrich, Newton and Adelaide Burgner Endowed Professor of Instrumental Music, will lead the Chamber Orchestra in several selections, including "Quintent Op. 71 by Ludwig van Beethoven," "Passacaille" by Adrien Barthe, and "Phantasy Quintent" by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

Dr. Dietrich, on viola, will join Kayla Jones on cello and Rachel-Joy Seifrit '18 on violin for Trio in G Major by Franz Joseph Haydn. He will also perform with Adam White '16, violin, Savannah Seiple '18, violin, Anthony Scheuerman '16, viola, and Abigail Hudson '17, cello, for "Blue Rondo a la Turk" By Dave Brubeck. These performances build on LVC's tradition of faculty-student collaborations of chamber music.

The Lebanon Valley College Woodwind Quintet (Amy Karnes '16, flute; Abby Nicholas '16, oboe; Abigail Mosior '17, clarinet; Jeff Dundore '17, horn; and Michael Halcovage '16, bassoon) is led by Beverly Butts, adjunct assistant professor in music. They will perform "The Russian Bear" by Karen Gornton.

The Brass Quintet (Amanda Phillips '16, trumpet; Eric Boyd '19, trumpet; Renee Cooper '18, horn; Amanda Strouse '17, trombone; and John Johnston '15, tuba) is led by Dr. Christopher Heffner, associate professor of music. The quintet will perform "Classical Suite" by James Barnes.
