Lebanon Valley College Hosts Christian Artist J.J. Heller for Concert and Conference

ANNVILLE, PA (08/25/2015)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College will host Christian singer/songwriter J.J. Heller in Miller Chapel at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Throughout the following day, Heller will assist in the leadership of a women's conference titled Boast: Finding Empowerment through Grace in Weakness. The conference begins at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to last until 4 p.m. Both events are open to the public.

In her 12 years as a full-time independent musician, J.J. Heller has produced six full-length albums. Critics describe her signature style as folksy and whimsical in the vein of Patty Griffin and Damien Rice. Heller is best known for her song "Your Hands," which hit number 13 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart in 2009. Her album When I'm with You peaked at number 33 in 2010 on Billboard'?s Christian Albums. The top song from that album, "What Love Really Means," reached number 13 on the Billboard Singles chart.

The opening act for Heller's concert, Kali Rodgers, is a junior at Lebanon Valley College. Her music, characterized by a unique bluesy timbre, has been compared in style to singers Adele and Lana Del Rey. A signed artist for LVC's music production company, Vale Records, Rodgers released her album The Deepest Blue in the spring of 2015.

Saturday's conference, which draws its "Boast" theme from the biblical verse 2 Corinthians 12:9., will consider ideas such as strength, weakness, grace, and empowerment. In addition to a performance and comments by J.J. Heller, there will be small group sessions, as well as sharing from several community women, including Lebanon Valley College alumni, church leaders, and other professionals.

Tickets for the concert cost $10 each, or $5 per person for a group of 10 or more. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Registration for Saturday's conference, which begins at 8:30 a.m., costs $15 per person, or $10 each for a group of 10 or more.
