ANNVILLE, PA (11/09/2015)(readMedia)-- The Lebanon Valley College Percussion Ensemble will present its fall concert Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Lutz Hall of Blair Music Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The ensemble, under the direction of Robert Nowak, adjunct instructor of music, begins with "Sizzle!" by Nathan Daughtrey. The piece features three families of percussion instruments: membranes, metals, and woods, with a fourth family created through the performers' voices.

The concert continues with the first movement of "Symphony No. 8" by Franz Schubert, arranged for keyboard percussion ensemble by Ian Rollins. The music of Claude Debussy is then featured with "Claire de Lune," "Arabesque No. 1," and "Golliwog's Cakewalk," all transcribed for numerous keyboard percussion instruments.

Another Daughtrey composition-"Limerick Daydreams"-the second-place winner of the 2005 Percussive Arts Society International Composition Contest, concludes the performance. The work is based on the Irish reel, "Highway to Limerick."

Lebanon Valley College offers numerous public performances by students, faculty, and guests of the College throughout the semester, many of them free and open to the public. Visit www.lvc.edu/music/events.aspx for our list of upcoming performances.
