ANNVILLE, PA (04/21/2011)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's 75§20 Choral Jubilee will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the annual tour of the LVC Concert Choir, and the 20th anniversary of the LVC Chamber Choir Apr. 30- May 1. Former members from across the United States will attend to reunite and sing with the choir alumni. Both concerts will be free and open to the public.
The April 30 Chamber Choir 20th reunion concert will feature current and past vocalists in Miller Chapel at 7:30 p.m.
The May 1 Concert Choir performance marks the 75th anniversary of the choir's annual tour, and will be held at 3 p.m. in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center. The concert will recognize a very special attendee – alumna Nancy Bowman Hatz '36, who participated in the first choir tour in the spring of 1936, led by Edward P. Rutledge, then a professor of music at the College.
Two new choral works were commissioned for the 75§20 Choral Jubilee by California composer, Everett Reed, a notable choral composer, arranger, conductor, and engraver. Reed will attend both events and will provide a composition and music business master class on April 29 at 3 p.m. on, in the Presser-Gillespie Music Technology Center (BMC 218).
The Concert Choir will also perform a setting of Psalm 23, by former department of music chair Dr. Robert C. Lau '65, who will be in attendance.
At both concerts, Asher Condit's '11 original composition for the Chamber Choir, Little Giddings, will be performed. The composition is a setting of lines from T.S. Eliot's poem of the same name.
Additional music selections will include Hear my Prayer by Moses Hogan (2001); Mark Wilberg's Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (1955); and more. Charles Grove '13 and Mike Nelson '12 will accompany the choir on organ and piano, respectively.
