Lebanon Valley College's Annual Brain Safety Fair to be Held in Conjunction with the Lancaster Barnstormers' Fan Fest for First Time

LVC, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, Lancaster Barnstormers, and Brain Injury Association Partner on Fair

ANNVILLE, PA (04/06/2018) Lebanon Valley College will hold its annual Brain Safety Fair off campus for the first time in six years. On April 21, from 12-4 p.m., the fair will be held in conjunction with the Lancaster Barnstormers' Fan Fest at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The fair has several co-sponsors: Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, Lancaster Barnstormers, and the Brain Injury Association.

"Since founding the Brain Safety Fair at Lebanon Valley College six years ago, it is affirming to see it grow to include such distinguished partners as Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, the Lancaster Barnstormers, and the Brain Injury Association," said Dr. Robin Myers, LVC clinical associate professor of physical therapy. "It highlights the necessity of this type of education, and provides a great opportunity for our students to be involved with the community."

Participants will receive free bike helmets and participate in interactive educational activities. Students and faculty in Lebanon Valley College's doctor of physical therapy program are leading the event.

"The Brain Safety Fair is a great opportunity for LVC to promote health and wellness throughout the community in a fun and interactive way," said Laura Schmidt '17, D'19, a student organizer. "It is important to be proactive in concussion and head injury prevention. Being able to provide information, as well as properly fitted helmets for free, at such a large event as the Lancaster Barnstormer's Fan Fest is incredible. I am excited to reach a bigger audience and share information that could prevent head injuries."
