ANNVILLE, PA (04/02/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Co. will present Caryl Churchill's play, "Vinegar Tom," April 20–28.

A dark account of how fear and hate can lead to the death of innocent people, "Vinegar Tom" tells the story of women who are accused of witchcraft. The connection between fear of female sexuality and witch hysteria is shown to be at the root of many of society's problems. Set in the 17th century, the play offers a disturbing glimpse into this prejudiced society. Contemporary music and story combine to offer a rare glimpse of the horror and oppressions of our past, while shedding light on attitudes which have carried through to today.

"Vinegar Tom" is directed by Jenna Dutton '15 of Lancaster, produced by Vicki Childers '12 of Aberdeen, Md., and stage-managed by Missy Zellner '13 of Lehighton. The cast includes Jenna Parrilla '13 of Hillsborough, N.J., Kailah Buckwalter '14 of Denver, Dee Bogert '14 of West Chester, Charelle Bryant '13 of Elizabethtown, Kristin Zlogar '14 of Harrisburg, Sam Devine '15 of Bear, Del., Rosemary Bucher '13 of Palmyra, and Chris Dunlap '15 of Harrisburg.
