Lebanon Valley College will present "Company" in October.

ANNVILLE, PA (10/15/2015)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company is pleased to announce their upcoming production of the musical "Company," a trailblazer of the dark-comedy, modern-musical genre. The musical, which debuts Friday, Oct. 23 at 8.pm. in the Leedy Theater of the Mund College Center, takes a sophisticated and honest look at modern, adult relationships.

"Company" is based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by the iconic Stephen Sondheim. The musical debuted on Broadway in 1970 and is the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics, and Best Book.

Wig and Buckle's production is directed by Shannon Kane '16. Although this is Kane's first time serving as director, she has experience as stage manager for numerous other Wig and Buckle performances, including "Curtains," "Private Lives," and "All My Sons." "Company is going well. The actors are working hard and we're getting ready to forge ahead into tech week," said Kane.

"Company" is set in 1970s New York and follows Bobby as he struggles with his refusal to commit to any of his girlfriends and get married. His friends preach the joys of marriage-while also revealing its woes. Whatever Bobby chooses, he has a huge decision to make. After all, marriage does change everything-and nothing-in a person's life. Sean Reynolds '17 will play the role of Bobby.

"Bobby is definitely a unique character in that he learns so much throughout the show, through experiences with his friends and in discoveries and decisions he makes on his own," noted Reynolds. "One of the hardest parts of portraying Bobby is being able to adapt and change based on all these new lessons learned and decisions made. I couldn't be happier with where the show is at now. This show is all about relationships, and all the relationships between the characters, friendly and romantic, are really starting to blossom."

Wig and Buckle takes pride in the fact that it is a completely student run organization, with the expert advice of Dr. Kevin Pry '76, the company's advisor. Since 1935, Wig and Buckle has performed musicals and plays for the enjoyment of LVC students and members of surrounding communities.

"Wig and Buckle is kicking off its 80th anniversary season of student run theater with the iconic musical of the 'Me' Generation. It's a powerful piece about marriage, loneliness, and the American urban experience," said Pry.

The production features a set created from a partnership between Theresa Peters '16, head technical director, and Taylor Saraiva '14, scenic designer. In addition, the company will team up once again with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota, two music fraternities on LVC's campus, to bring this hilariously entertaining show to life.

Showings of "Company" are scheduled for Oct. 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for those attending the Halloween performance, but not required.

Tickets are available for reservation at www.wigandbuckle.com or by phone at 717-867-6162. Tickets are free for LVC students; $15 for adults; $10 for non-LVC students, alumni, and faculty; $5 for seniors age 60 and older; and $5 for children 10 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door, but reservations are strongly recommended.
