ANNVILLE, PA (10/06/2014)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Wig and Buckle Theater Company is pleased to announce their upcoming production of the musical "Curtains," a "musical comedy whodunit" opening Friday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. Since 1935, Wig and Buckle has performed musicals and plays for the enjoyment of LVC students and members of surrounding communities. The Company is teaming up once again with Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota- two music fraternities on LVC's campus that provide service hours to help with selling tickets, box office tasks, tear down of the set, etc- to bring this hilariously entertaining show to life.

Showings of "Curtains" will be Oct. 24, 25, 30, 31, and Nov. 1 at 8 p.m., and Oct. 26 and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available for reservation at www.wigandbuckle.com, and are free for LVC students, $15 for adults, $10 for LVC alumni, students of other institutions, and LVC faculty, and $5 for seniors and children 10 years or younger. Tickets will also be available at the door, but reservation is strongly recommended.

The concept of "Curtains" was originally created by Peter Stone, but upon his passing in 2003, Rupert Holmes was hired to complete it. The show officially debuted on Broadway in 2007, featuring music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Wig and Buckle's production is directed by Aileen Koch '16 of Hardyston, NJ, and it happens to be the first major musical that she has directed. "Rehearsals have been going so well, and though it can be nerve-wracking at times, the cast has proven to me that they deserve the roles they were given through their complete devotion to the show. I am so excited to see it all come to life!" exclaimed a proud Koch.

"Curtains" tells the story of a musical murder mystery taking place in Boston in 1959. When the not-so-talented leading lady of "Robbin' Hood"-a musical that puts a Western spin on the childhood classic-is murdered, it is up to police detective Lt. Frank Cioffi to solve the mystery. Brad Leer '16 of Mechanicsburg, PA, will play the role of Cioffi. "This whole experience has greatly exceeded my expectations," says Leer. "This cast is the best group of people to work with, and I couldn't have been given a better role to play. Being Cioffi just comes naturally to me."

The production features dance numbers choreographed by Sara Mills, and the set was created from a partnership between Theresa Peters '16, head technical director, and Taylor Saraiva '14, scenic designer.

Wig and Buckle takes pride in the fact that it is a completely student-run organization, with the expert advice of Dr. Kevin Pry '76, the Company's Advisor. "The vision for each Wig and Buckle production at Lebanon Valley College is developed completely from a student run process-everything from choosing the seasons to electing directors and officer positions to organizing rehearsals and building sets," says Pry, who is celebrating his 20th anniversary at the helm. "This collaborative learning model I believe distinguishes our work and really is the essence of what our Company is."
