Lebanon Valley Names Karen M. Feather Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary of the College

Karen M. Feather is new executive assistant to the president and secretary of Lebanon Valley College

ANNVILLE, PA (09/03/2013)(readMedia)-- Karen M. Feather, of Annville, Pa., has been named executive assistant to the president and secretary of Lebanon Valley College. She served as chief of staff to former Pennsylvania Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski for 16 years. Feather assumes her new responsibilities Sept. 9.

"Karen's extensive experience in government and her legal background will be assets for Lebanon Valley College and prove important to the implementation of a leadership agenda for the College," said Dr. Lewis E. Thayne, LVC president. "These proficiencies will be especially beneficial in her primary roles of working with me and the College's senior staff regarding our strategic priorities, and assisting the Board of Trustees with governance issues and their ongoing engagement with the College community."

Feather began a 26-year career working for Congressman Kanjorski in 1985 shortly after graduating magna cum laude from Tufts University with degrees in English and psychology. As an undergraduate at Tufts, Feather spent a year studying literature and international law at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She earned her juris doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., in 1991.

During her 16-year tenure as chief of staff to Congressman Kanjorski, Feather managed a staff of 22, supervised a more than $1 million budget for all office operations, and guided major legislative victories such as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act and the Credit Union Membership Access Act.

Feather was born and raised in Annville. She is a graduate of Annville-Cleona High School. Her family has long ties to Lebanon Valley College. Her grandmother, Esther Kline, was the long-time assistant to the late Dr. George R. "Rinso" Marquette '48, vice president emeritus of student affairs. Her father, Philip Feather, Esq., '60 and mother, Judith Kline Feather '62, are both LVC graduates.

This fall, Feather is an adjunct instructor at the College teaching a course titled "Law and Government" in the Department of History and Political Science.
